  • Hi Flavio,

Could you please tell me if any of UVToolkits’s plugins are “object” plugins, and if so, how many.

    Thanks

What seems to be messing up the rendering is having “Material Override” enabled in the Render Settings without any Custom Material entered (which begs the question, Why are you using it?). Unchecking that box alone didn’t seem to work for me until I also removed and reapplied all the materials.

    Hope this helps.

You could create both the elements, the concentric rings and the dividers, with cloners. And make a separate, thicker ring, for the innermost one.

    For example:

You could use the “Set Driver, Set Driven” expression. For instructions, search for that in the Help menu.

There are many tutorials on YouTube and elsewhere on the web, or find a book on expressions. Here’s one (which also has an eBook option):

    Hi Serge,
In texture mode rotate the texture so that its Z axis is vertical. The axis of the rings is the Z axis of the texture, so in order for the rings to appear properly the Z axis of the texture needs to align with the Y axis of the stump.

From the Help menu (If you’re not familiar with accessing the Help menu, rt. click on “Annual Rings” in the shader properties and select “Show Help”) :

    Annual Rings

If enabled, the Wood shader will display growth rings that are arranged in concentric rings around the growth axis. This axis is the texture’s blue Z axis (main menu: Tools | Modes | Texture Axis. Move or rotate this axis if the growth rings should lie differently on the given object.

I’m not sure if this applies to your iMac, but in Octane’s FAQ (#5 under Hardware and Software) they do talk about using a Thunderbolt controller with an external CUDA GPU (see screenshot below). CUDA drivers can certainly be installed on Macs (though there are no CUDA drivers available yet for Mojave), so your issue is going to be whether or not you can set up an external CUDA GPU. Contact support for whatever renderer(s) you’re considering using and I’m sure they can give you the rundown.
