you do not need to know all the basics in order to edit. not everyone has taken classes, etc. if everyone knew the basics then this forum wouldnt exist. certain things stick in ones mind more than others. where i might construct a better edit (timing, etc) than one, that other person may know more about the mechanics inside the machine. differs for everyone.

i see lines just when i pause and its not for every frame. this also happens in dvd studio pro..so it may be my monitors. i will burn a dvd and test on a tv.

    thanks for the thoughts

I agree. Use a slow roll, or I prefer to use static cards with 10-15 credits on each….woody allen style.

that was very helpful, thanks. just knowing that it bars in the camera. that doesnt much play when mixing formats. so i will try to scale down 16×9.

ah…got ya. if i change my sequence to 4X3 how would my 16X9 HD footage look? wouldnt it be squeezed? if so, i basically have to choose either a squeezed 16×9 or a double letterboxed dv. i tried the scaling and it doesnt look to good.

    thanks!

What is a delivery codec? Is that for a final product to show people? Thanks for that.

I don’t have a deck so I cant export out and then redig, but I do have a Mac, so I can try the DVCproHD codec. Is that what it is called? The clip is about 3 minutes long. Ill google that other codec you mentioned.

    Thanks again!
