    Hello,

I am creating a dvd with letterboxed dv footage (shot with dvx100) , and letterboxed hd footage (shot with varicam) and when i place them into the same 16×9 timeline, the dv footage is double letterboxed. i take it is because the dv is 4:3 letterboxed, so when i take it into 16:9 timeline the letterboxes double?

both resolutions are great, but its a little annoying that the letterboxes dont line up. i tried blowing up the DV footage, but then the titles arent safe and i lose quality.

i just want both portions of the footage to line up sizewise (my brain is overloading from this one!!!) what are my options here?

    THanks!

ah…got ya. if i change my sequence to 4X3 how would my 16X9 HD footage look? wouldnt it be squeezed? if so, i basically have to choose either a squeezed 16×9 or a double letterboxed dv. i tried the scaling and it doesnt look to good.

    thanks!

From what I remember the original DVX-100 does not shoot true animorphic formats. It letterboxes in the camera resulting in a 4×3 image with black bars on the top and bottom. I believe that the DVX-100A and “B” models will shoot true 19×9 “squeezed” video.
Edit ti a 4×3 timeline and scale the 16×9 footage down vertically to match the DVX-100 footage.

that was very helpful, thanks. just knowing that it bars in the camera. that doesnt much play when mixing formats. so i will try to scale down 16×9.
