wondering if i maybe should use my PC to ultimately burn the final Bluray. Compress in Compressor to the proper format and bring that over to the PC for the Bluray authoring process. Hmmm.

I actually discovered the issue… another editor working on the same project for some reason sent a project folder, with render files, to the trash and was replaced with an updated folder of the same project. FC seemed to be writing the render files to the Trash folder… can that be???

I retreived the Trashed folder, reconnnected and all was back to normal.

ok. what if I change the location of the Render Folder in the settings to write them to a folder on the external drive… will that then remedy the re-rendering on the second machine so long as the second machine is set the same way (to look for the render folder on the external drive)? Obviously i would have to initially re render the sequences but after that the second machine should not need to render again. Is this correct?

I would have to check… in the System settings all is set to read/write at the specific folder the project is in, however I would have to check to see where FCP is actually putting the render files.

If it is writing the render files to a different location, can I copy that Render folder to the external hard drive and reconnect if needed?

i know this is an older thread but I did have a quick question as I am new to FCP7… where do I find where FCP is rendering the files to? I’m having the same issue and am thinking the render files are not necessarily in the same folder my project resides.

Can you explain to me how you fixed this? I have the reverse problem… stupidly created a sequence in 16:9 and footage is 4:3. Image is blown up when I change the setting to 4:3. Can you help?
