I read some esata drivers were causing Kernel panics in Snow Leopard. Don’t know if it’s related. Can driver be uninstalled?

Just went throught this myself and narrowed problem down to the graphics card. I would start there and see if you can upgrade. I had stuttering on playback when running dual monitors. With only one connected problem cleared up.

Brian what graphics card are you using? My plan was to get the MX02 LE as well. I might have this wrong but I thought it would just help to get the signal out of the computer but not necessarily correct any issues inside the computer?
Does your Quicktime playback stutter as well?

Just did the same thing today. I tried to roll back my MacPro which came with 10.6. My Leopard disk was 10.5 which wouldn\’t load on the hardware of the new Mac Pro. So I took an internal drive to an older G5 and loaded the 10.5 disk and then updated to 10.8. Put the drive back in the Mac Pro and booted into 10.8.

I’ve been having this issue with FCP 7 too but blamed it on Snow Leopard. Went back to Leopard but drop frames persist.

Are you running Snow Leopard? I haven’t had any video run smoothly in it. In process of going back to Leopard till Apple figures it out.

I had issues yesterday with Motion and Soundtrack Pro not wanting to launch. I trashed their preferences, repaired disk permissions and shut down and then restarted. Restarting alone didn’t help.
This got me going again, not sure if it will help your situation or not?
I’m running SL 10.6.1 as well.
