Does this work for seeing the thumbnails when you choose import of XDCAM instead of Log & Transfer?
When I had tried the latest XDcam Transfer 2.10 I got an error on every thumbnail that came up. I went back to 2.5.1 and still don’t see the thumbnails but at least don’t get error messages on every clip.

I’m in Motion 4. I ended up trashing the prefs and now it seems as if things are doing what they are supposed to be doing.

Oh okay, the XDcam HD does output through firewire with downconversion so I thought the EX3 did as well.

Ah okay, so the downconvert is only live then and not through the USB I imagine?

I’ve been trying to get an output out of the EX3 firewire connector. The footage is shot in SP as indicated in the manual, i/o is enabled, cable connected to computer…
Is it supposed to show up on the desktop as a drive or similar to a deck when capturing? When I run log & capture within FCP I don’t see the camera.
I understand that the EX3 will downconvert footage but not seeing the connection to the camera yet?

Okay, thanks Craig I’ll have to try that approach. That would still be better than Paul’s suggestion of having to using Media 100 to do it…four years was enough!! lol

Very nice looking video! How much of the look was from in-camera settings and how much was grading in post?
