Have you tried setting a logging bin in FCP?

I believe I tested setting a logging bin once and it didn’t seem to work. It was a while ago.

That’s one reason why I use a two step process of rewrap first and then import into appropriate bin.

I started with setting a logging bin but still went to project.

Craig what is the process you use?

I open XDCAM Transfer as a separate app and target a destination folder rather than an FCP project.
Once everything is re-wrapped, I import into FCP from the destination folder in the appropriate bins.

In Media 100 all you do is create a new bin and import straight into it direct from transfer tool – seamless! Surely it works as easily as this in FCP?

Okay, thanks Craig I’ll have to try that approach. That would still be better than Paul’s suggestion of having to using Media 100 to do it…four years was enough!! lol

Do you include the FCP xml files with it?

I just tried importing using the XDCAM transfer plug-in to FCP and got the same result as you did. Even by flagging a bin as the Logging Bin, opening it, and right-clicking to import Sony XDCAM. Imported files just went to the main project window. Weird.

I don’t normally import footage this way so I hadn’t noticed that.

There you are Jim, Media 100 is better! I honestly believe it’s still the best and most logical NLR. Certainly as far as importing via the EX Transfer it is straightforward enough.
