Check to make sure that the Work Area is covering the composition.
Go to the start of the comp and press B, then go to the end and press N.

I always create an ADOBe folder inside the Applications folder and put all my Adobe apps there. I also create an AE Plug-ins and PS Plug-Ins folder for the After Effects and Photoshop 3rd party plug-ins. Then I create aliases to these folders and put them into the correct Plug-Ins folder for the apps. This way I can share my plug-ins with other apps that might be able to use them and I only have to install them once.
Bear in mind that not all plug-ins from AE6 will work in 7.

PAL is *NOT* NTSC and needs to be converted first, then to MPEG. Try Procoder or another envoding app to convert from NTSC to PAL AVI and then into MPEG.

And put both the semi-opaque BG shape and the fully opaque text into a single layer so they act as a single object.

Animating Vector Paint strokes in the Professional bundle will allow you to “write on” a line.
If you have the standard, you can draw the as a path with the pen tool and stroke the path, animating the end %.

Suggest you upgrade to the Production Studio Premium and get all the tools which play together nicely (better than buying them separately due to the Dynamic Linking which is available in the Studio only.)

Create multiple masks on the layer and fade or contract them so each section disappears sequentially.

You might even consider upgrading to the Production Studio Premium so you can get Dynamic Linking and the other tools (Audition, EncoreDVD, Photoshop, Illustrator).
