How to question?
How do I create a somewhat transparent square that will contain text. I plan to then place this square over a picture of a car with price, mileage and other information.

Use a shape and then dial down its opacity. Then text tool for the text on another layer.

And put both the semi-opaque BG shape and the fully opaque text into a single layer so they act as a single object.
