copy /b file1 + file2 + file3 combined_fileYou need the “/b” flag for binary copying.

Wow. Not sure I’m ready to switchover yet, since I still have 1 PC running V10 on WinXP, but the render performance is amazing with the GPU acceleration. The same 2:34 project, with about 35 h.264 .mov events (Canon 5D) takes 3:26 to render in V10, vs. 1:40 to render in V11. Twice as fast! (Contrast that with over 5 minutes on WinXP quad-core with SVP10). All clips with color correction, some with secondary CC, all cropped to 2.35:1 frame. One event is reversed, which comparatively takes a lot of time to render. Output is Sony AVC 1280×540 24p 6Mbps. Preview seems just slightly better in V11, but I think my CPU is the workhorse there instead of the GPU. Computer specs: Win7 Pro, NVIDIA GTX570, Intel i7-3930K, 16GB RAM.

If you can’t get the transfer utility to work, then combine them using the Windows command line to do a binary combine. I used to have the Panny HMC-150 and needed to do this. Go to Windows “Start/Run”, then type “cmd” to go to a command prompt. Then change to the drive and directory where your files are located, then use this:
copy file1 + file2 + file3 combined_filewhere file1 through fileX (as many as you need) are the camera files, and combined_file will be the concatenated file of all the camera files. Caveat is you need to be sure each camera file is actually one that needs concatenation. So a 3 minute camera file would not, but those at 4GB most likely are.

Thanks Dave. I look forward to the day I can scrub (or even just play) at full framerate, even at “Preview” quality. Is it worth the double price to get the GTX 590 with 1024 CUDA cores vs. GTX 570 with 480 CUDA cores? It might be overkill, but I often have 2-3 audio tracks, 4 video tracks (multicam) and then often use 2.351:1 masking.

Thanks Joseph! I’ve never heard of maingear.com, sounds like an awesome company. So I’m torn with the decision of spending about $1600 more for them to build a computer compared to me buying similar components and putting it together myself.

Actually, this has happened to me in V8 & V10, but I do a lot of copy/paste from multiple running projects so this might be the issue.

Ahmed, from my experience, the Magic Bullet FX is the main culprit here. It seems to be the most intensive FX. As a test, I would remove that FX and see if your render time improves dramatically. If so then try to use a combination of other filters to get the same effect as MB. And you will want to upgrade your PC soon 🙂

Maybe use Premiere to convert the footage into something Vegas will understand, like maybe uncompressed avi files.
