On one of my PC’s VP12 will crash about 90% of the time when adding a clip to the trimmer. On another PC it’s fine. I’ve reported this to Sony with absolutely no response in 3 weeks.

Two hours is really the max I ever try with a DVD, anything more will suffer visual quality. You could try to render out to a Sony MXF format and then let DVD Arch. re-render it for you to see if it looks better, but you are past the general limits for a DVD.

Anyone else having problems with multi-cam not always recognizing the mouse click to change cameras? Most the time I need to use the keypad numbers to switch between cams.

Besides the crash that randomly occurs when I right-click an event to the trimmer, the multi-cam randomly doesn’t allow the mouse to change cameras, I need to use the number keyboard.

I had the same problem, the discount showed in my account but didn’t follow through when clicked to buy. I called, they answered quickly, and gave me the discounted price.

September 27, 2012 at 7:15 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas 11.0 Stablizer Problems with Build 701Yes, but shouldn’t I be able to place a clip in the trimmer at any time, without crashing? I often put clips in the trimmer to recover the audio that I didn’t want on the timeline previously. Or, maybe, to trim it again.

Just know that I’ve had issues with using projects created with previous versions. That is, when editing a VP10 veg file on VP11 it has crashed on me. Whereas it’s fine if I recreate the VP10 project in the newer Vegas 11 version.

September 27, 2012 at 12:38 pm in reply to: Sony Vegas 11.0 Stablizer Problems with Build 701I never liked the integrated version of the stabilization, with its simplistic settings and the need to place it on the whole media clip (or make a subclip). I’ve been using Mercalli V2 and it works great and can be applied to any clip on the timeline. Oh, I just tried the integrated stabilizer and when I just tried to place that stabilized clip to the trimmer it crashed Vegas 12.

I just set it to 1024 and although it didn’t hang, it kills my multicam performance. I have 4 cams and with this set, it’s very jumpy, even when playing back after doing a RAM prerender. Then I switch it back to zero and its smooth again. I can live without RAM preview, especially since my timeline plays smoothly with almost any plugin I use anyway. So I guess with a fast system with a good GPU there is no longer a need for this feature, at least for me. Any complicated filtering and/or composting I would make an intermediary render using Sony MXF anyway.

OK, I just downloaded it. I did have a hang when I tried to use it after increasing the RAM Preview. So I set it to zero and it seems stable. I guess that issue isn’t solved. And I can live without RAM preview, again.
However, performance is vastly improved. I’m using the NVIDIA GTX570, and with VP11 it would be sluggish with playback of more than 2 cameras in multicam. Now with VP12 I have 4 cameras and it plays and edits smoothly! Yay for better GPU acceleration. Other features seem cool, but that was the main one for me. I almost switched to Premiere Pro because of the sluggish multicam performance.
And yes, there is a discount on the upgrade but I didn’t get the promo email. So I logged into my account and it listed it as $139.95, but reverted to $189.95. So I called Sony and they took my order over the phone for the $139.95.
