Try Channel Blur then only blur the alpha… lemme know if that works…
Also the Key Correct plugin package has a plugin called “Edge Blur” that will blur your edges…

Not sure I understand — but I think, if you use HOLD keyframes, the values will pop to to just the numbers you set each keyframe’s value to…

Hmmm… you could always roughen edges — then precompose and apply the other effects to the precomp??

I think I was able to duplicate your problem — try moving the Roughen Edges down to the bottom of the effects window — this will change the render order and should fix the problem — if not try experimenting with the effects in different orders — you can just drag the effect to change its position in the render order….

Drawing a path over some video is as simple as crating a Mask using bezier points to make the shape and curves you desire then adding the “Generate–>stroke” effect to that mask.
It only gets complicated if there is motion in your video — if that is the case you would need to motion track your footage to keep your stroked mask locked to your footage…
So question 1:
Is there motion in your video?
Question #2:
Am I understanding your needs correctly?

I have had this same problem — I used a Tree as a custom particle to make a forrest and the trees popped off even with a very long particle life — I seem to remember reading that Peder (head honcho at Trapcode) was aware of this problem and there are postings on this subject on the Trapcode Forum within Creative Cow…
Also, I’m guessing (only guessing) that it was fixed in the new version of Particular (which I don’t have yet — so I’m not sure about that)…
