Initially I’d like to see what can be done with non-3d source footage. I’ll probably need to study some depth mattes to see what I’d have to create in Photoshop first. In case you haven’t seen it check out 3rd and 7th for some of the best work I’ve seen using the Depth of Field effect

Thanks Chris. With Shapeshifter and Elements soon to be released, a number of options it seems to simulate true raytracing from within AE.

Thanks. Some great tips! In terms of coloring I’ve heard some great things about the latest Harry Potter film, and in terms of FX…the latest Michael bay Transformers 3d epic, but not a fan of either!

BTW, has anyone figured out a workflow using Premiere as your NLE? I’ve read somewhere that you need to use FCP7 to first convert the xml generated, since Premiere only understands FCP7 xml
