    Thanks Max!
A little simpler and more straightforward than I thought.

So my brand new iMac doesn’t come with an extended keyboard….guess that’s my problem:)

One thing I am trying to do…there may be an easy way to do this with built in effects…is to simply create 3 distinct luma mattes for shadows, midtones and highlites of any given layer. Seems like something that should be easy…but I haven’t been able to figure it out (except for a midtone inverted luma matte by duplicated the layer, applying the invert colors channel effect, and using a difference blend mode)

Any ideas? A luma matte plugin that allows u to create mattes specifically for shadows, midtones and highlites is what I need!

    Thanks
Will do some tests with the pro demo. One thing I noticed is how SLOW denoising is, though from what I’ve read MB denoiser is slower than Neat. In AE I guess that means to either prerender, or turn it off until you’re ready to render.

Unfortunately yes I am referring to available light.
I’m doing some dusk exterior shots of buildings with a 7D…and can’t afford the portable suns it would take to light.
And I am saving for a Red Scarlet (assuming it will get released sometime)

    Thanks Walter
I think one of the issues I wasn’t aware of is that CF apparently does not support color management. Dang!

    Thanks for all the replys!
FInally have a PPro-AE dynamic link workflow working properly with color management enabled (in AE at least).
In AE I apply all my CC , blends and fx in a fully linearized 32bpc workspace but have to precompose and and a color profile converter effect in order for the previews to be correct back in PPro.
I’ve submitted a feature request for PPro to support color management, a major omission in my estimation.

Thanks, feared as much:) What a hassle…submitted the feature request.
No wonder most PPro users leave Color management turned off in AE!

    Thanks Water.
One place I am still stumped is what happens when roundtripping back into PPRo with a color managed workflow?

Where and how do you tell Premiere how to interpret the dynamically linked AE footage so it previews correctly and where do you set the output profile if rendering in PPro(Adobe Media Encoder)?

  • Thanks for that!

I think the problem I will have is that I still want to keep some motion in the background but remove other motion (walking pedestrians) in the foreground. WIll need to do some tests but my hunch is that it will require manual rotoscoping as well
