Thanks Peter for the link. I had seen CaptainHook’s comment on the BM blog, and was wondering if there was any additional info. As has been mentioned by many, there are numerous instances were ProRes (not HQ) would be a viable codec, but not if there are drop outs. Hopefully, BM will straighten this out soon.

    Cheers,

It’s not the hit in performance that is the issue. As mentioned, if I toggle to AE then back to PPRO timeline plays OK. But if I wait a few minutes it’s like AE’s DL goes to sleep, and the PPRO timeline freezes on the DL AE segment and the audio continues to play. Interesting though, If I quite AE, DLs play OK.

This was not an issue in CC (after I turned on Prevent App Nap). However, this does not seem to be an option in CC 2014 (for AE). In the meantime, I’ve done all of the usual trashing and soft booting reinstalling. Nothing seem to help. Now PPRO 14 won’t load

Uninstalled PPRO CC 2014 and trying to go back to CC. What a waste of a weekend trouble shooting.

    Please Help!

    Thanks,

    Jim

To follow up. I uninstalled then reinstalled AME and that seems to work now (at least at the moment I can export from PPRO and Que to AME and it completes the transcode).

Still issues w/ DL AE & PPRO. If I just do some things in PPRO for a couple of minutes, then go back to the timeline where there is a AE DL, the timeline won’t play. If I cmd shift to AE and save, then go back to PPRO, timeline plays OK. It’s like the DL goes to sleep and when I do something in AE it wakes up and the PPRO timeline works. This also happened in CC until I check Prevent App Nap (BTW, I’ve checked Prevent App Nap on CC 2014 PPRO, AME & Audition), but this is not available in AE 2014.

    Endeavoring to persevere:-)

    Kevin,

I have many of the Red Giant Plug ins Suites (that I upgraded to the latest versions), a few of the Noise Industry, and Zynaptiq(for audio). I am mostly working w/ ProRes HQ(BMPCC) w/ the occasional AVCHD & XDCam.

I have CUDA enabled w/ the latest driver, and TB RAID.

It is wierd; w/ AE open and files DL, sometimes it will playback fairly well, other times frozen on picture and audio plays. Typically, only two V tracks (Video on 1 AE on 2)1920×1080 @ 29.97. Also, I can not send to AME — Export Media gives me the window, I enter setting and hit Que, and nothing happens — AME never launches. I end up transcoding directly from timeline.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

    Kevin,

Running into similar issue. Loosing Dynamic link, timeline locking — having a miserable time. I guess on the positive side it’s taking me more than 3 times longer to complete a job, perhaps I can bill more:-(

I had run into similar issues w/ CC but found that if I prevented App Nap it seemed to clear it up. But, that option is not available on AE 2014.

Also, was looking into preference suggestion (Mac OS: [drive]/Users/[user_name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe/) I went to my Mac HD/Users/user_name/ but didn’t see Library. Any additional info would be helpful.

I’ve updated all plug-ins (Red Giant), but this is really not the way I need to work. Any advice would be appreciated, but in the meantime I’m going back to CC so I can get some work done.

    Thanks,

July 3, 2014 at 11:51 am in reply to: Premiere Pro CC Sequence Rendering Issue

I was experiencing something similar — rendering out w/ an AE dynamic link. I found that Get Info on the AE & PR (and others) and checking the Prevent App Nap seemed to fix the problem. As I understand it, if the DL program is in the background, it can go to sleep (to save power, possibly), this messes up the render.

    My 2 cents.

    Good Luck,

April 26, 2014 at 3:35 pm in reply to: Cineo vs. Area 48?

I had a chance to look at both light at NAB, and the Area 48 is considerably brighter than the Cineo LS. I do a lot of sit down interviews, and either would be more that acceptable. However, the extra punch from the 48 has me leaning in that direction.

BTW, the Cineo’s Maverick (basically the LS w/ battery fixture) will accept battery power.

April 10, 2014 at 2:54 pm in reply to: Resolve 11 What is your plan?

From a visual cutting/CC capability it looks very strong. However, there are very limited capabilities with audio. Maybe xml to ProTools or Audition for processing and such, and the reps on site really haven’t thought about audio at all.

Funny, even w/ their cameras, audio seems to be low on the priority list for BM.

    Cheers,

    Jim
