I’ve never had to with MTVUK. Unless they request it you shouldn’t have to worry about it….

pretty much the same as any other broadcaster… phone their engineering department, they’re pretty accomadating… they’ll email their specs… Find out if they use the Harding test for photo sensitive epilepsy, it’ll need to pass that first. Its pretty new among the broadcasters, and a lot less forgiving than previous machines. Music videos are especially prone to failing, for obviuos reasons.
It can be a real ballache.

you might want to check out Natress plugins… I’m told they’re pretty good… Or Shake, which does a pretty decent job of conversions.

I also neglected to mention we’re in PAL world..
I finally got through to a guy at Sony who said: “Since V2.00 only editing functions as a PLAYER have been implemented for control of the
SRW-1 over RS422. Operation as an edit RECORDER is not supported, so a
studio deck (SRW-5500) will be required.”

I don’t know if he meant across the board, ie all framerates, but certainly 25psf. Strange, you would think a hire company would be aware of such developments….

turns out that the SRW1, since its software was upgraded from version one to version 2 last november, it’s no longer capable of recording from an edit suite… So the 5500 it is… At least I’m glad to know that’ll work…
