I am sorry for re-activate this thread again but I think I found a work-around at least to use with sony vegas, but I wanted to know what do you think???

I just discovered this format from the rendering options in vegas:

Sony MXF HDCAM SR 422…

despite the fact that I cant configure options for example bit-rate, but I can change the frame-rate, and the frame size as well, I am not sure if this is a good format at least to use in vegas (I am not sure if it is lossy, visually loss-less, but judging by the file sizes, I think is good.

I an still looking my way to find a work-around with mocha, I could get the cineform codec but it seems that the free version doesnt let you render videos in vegas. If I resolve something I will post because it can help people trying to find a solution.

Just as mr. Rofrano said, the only thing i will add is the detail that you crop the media using the pan and crop tools, and i suggest ( if you dont feel sure) to render a small segment just before rendering the whole thing just to be sure the output file will be like you want.

If something is wrong get back here to see whats the problem.

I remember myself struggling with this months ago, haha.

how can we avoid this behavior??

It happens to me sometimes when i move the event or i add another event to make a transition ,is annoying.

I wonder how i can prevent this or how to avoid it?

UPDATE:

OK after replacing all the files, deleting all the out of sync clips, and several hours trying to render, I found a work-around.

In fact, I did the pre-render (shift+M) and it was good, it pre-rendered the whole project flawless. But trying to render into MP4 AVC, the problem still appeared.

so I rendered it in sections, i always keep an eye where the rendering stopped so i could divide the whole thing in segments.

I was surprised that after rendering the problematic segment, another problematic segment appeared but as i said, i keep rendering the segments and at the end i just made a new project and put all the segments together there.

I think this problem was because the ISOM codec.

Ok, in the timeline i get no problems, everything plays smooth, and without crashs,just like a charm.

I want to try the pre-render option to see, im really curious now to see if there is a workaround or to know the problem, as i said, the clip that stops the rendering is the one i rendered with twixtor (from vp), this is curious because i rendered it in mp4 avc, never had a problem re-using files rendered with vegas.

I will try pre-rendering but i guess you are talking about shift+M, i wasnt sure this is different from the dinamic ram preview.

Im on this, i stopped yesterday because i had to sleep but i found audio out of sync, some red clips on the timeline ( i didnt know this) and i fixed them replacing the clips.

I will google the isom codec too, thanks for the feedback

oh God I cant believe this could turn to be so complicated, I will add some screenshots.

I was looking for the CINEFORM codec, in my sony vegas it appears under the codec list, but when I try to render, nothing happened, it seems like I dont have the codect itself

(I remember having the gopro studio installed on my computer but since it didnt worked, and after uninstalling it my vegas’s crash rate decreased a lot)

in the other hand, I try to look for more options, in this case, I found the suggestions.

I downloaded the lagarith codec,but when I render a 25 mb video clip (just 24 secs) , it rendered it into a 1.14 gb file (geez)

since my goal is to get a good intermediate codec, this is not suitable because i would want to render for example 10 mins of video just to go easier with vegas at the moment of editing longers projects (from 15 to 40 minutes or more).

the template doesnt allow me to set a bit rate or anything related so I have no control about the output file size.

then, I try with the MFX 422, but the problem with it is, that it doesnt allow me to set 1920x1080p @60fps, it only allows me to set 720p@60fps or 1080p@30fps.

so, After hours of googling around, reading and searching, I think I am running out of options, just for the record, my projects must be 1080p @60fps for internet (youtube) broadcast.

all i want is simple but still so hard to find, I guess i am just running out of options 🙁

hello there, I will try to help you the best I can:

I saw the picture and the fire seems to be just a simple image (not real fire or 3d generated fire…
so one suggestion to animate the fire is using the same image file but with a “mirror”effect, so you can loop between the original image and the one with the mirror effect.

another option in my opinion is, using some video effects on the library, you can find some effects that can make it work good for example a “wave” effect.

Note that the best option to do this is having the image with a transparent background, usually PNG format images.

“-How do you add an annotation? Is this even the right sofware to use to edit videos for youtube?”

I use youtube and sony vegas, as far as I know, annotations are from youtube’s video options, but lets be clear, some guys edit videos to make the annotations way cooler, for example they do a “menu”and when upload, they use the annotations over the “menu” they made.

“-How do I overlay pictures?”

overlaying a picture is the same trick you need to know to get the fire working, and I assume that if you dont know how to do this properly is because you are starting in video edition.

but I will answer you anyways, to overlay a picture in the sony vegas time line you need to have severals video tracks (the number depends of what you want to do but with 2 video tracks is usually enough for simple tasks)

so imagine this, in your sony vegas timeline you have a video of a guy walking in the street. then you give a right click on the timeline and select “add video track”so a track will appear over the track that contains the video of the guy walking on the street.

you can add videos and images right there and they will be over the first video (guy walking on the sreet), you can transform them, you can add transparency, you can add effects, you can do a lot of things.

“-What kind of Sony Vegas do you recommend?”

I use sony vegas pro 13, i have had to face a lot of issues because problems with my codecs and some minor bugs in vegas but you will find out advanced users that work with vegas 8-9-10 and so on.

I remember to have vegas pro 9-10 and I can tell you, vegas is very intiutive to use, and easy to learn, you can find several tutorials videos on youtube but I understand you need to know what to look for first.

at the end of the day you will find out that you can use several programs along with vegas to get the best of your videos, for example photoshop to edit images and later add them into your vegas project, there are severals plugins and extensions available out there, suites, boris fx just to metion one of the best.

and with time you will know more and more, is all on you to research, watching tutorials on youtube you can learn a lot.
