I like the split screen also. It seems to work well in color correction and with color curves (try that).

When you uninstall Cineform trial it asks at the end if you want to keep the codec. You should say “yes” to that. It is a more advanced version than the one that comes with Vegas.

Yes, straight out of Vegas with widescreen DVDs. I’m finishing a feature movie. In the beginnning I had a lot of render problems. Then I tried resetting the project properties before rendering and things got better. Later I was told this shouldn’t matter but it seemed to help. (My project was 1440 X 1080 and I was rendering 720 ws.
I haven’t worked with ProCoder but I hear it is an excellent product. The programs I found indispensible with HDV were HD Connect and Magic Bullet. I captured everything with Connect and used CineForm throughout (no proxies). Magic Bullet gave some looks that nothing I’ve seen can match. It is a longer render time for their effects but they are much faster in the later version of the program and it also will utilize the processor on an nVidia video card (they are rated on their site).

Wierd but I’m not surprised. I’ve worked with HDV for several months and it is a new world every day.

Not really. Vegas 6 has Cineform (by license) but not Connect HD. They capture differently, Connect has a more advanced codec and scene detection.

Finally found an unintentional parent-child. I had to move all audio to a new track. How do you get OUT of a parent-child relationship? I find nothing in the manual.

Further explanation — it is where you can scrub audio. The lower triangle for setting audio speed stays in “1” but the scrubber is zero. The audio will not play unless I adjust the scrubber to “get it going” and then it continues. I stop and no audio when playing the timeline. If I render a file, the scrubber goes back to zero and no sound EVEN if it is mpeg2 and the “Custom” button and sound is turned on.
I suppose the scrubber always jumps to zero but why effect sound?

Only thing we are pretty sure of is that it will edit XDCam HD footage.

I bought some factory refurbished MAudio speakers from Musician’s Friend that are great. They were $199. They had several sets in this area.

What I like about the two together is if you click on “open a copy in Sound Forge” and edit it, when you hit “Save” it will insert the edited material as a “take” and then in Vegas you can right click that clip and choose that or a different “take” you want. (The saved file is automatically inserted as the take in use.)
