The 2.8 is my old computer. I’m using two dual core AMDs – a 3800 X 2 and a 4600 X 2.

I’m sure you are right. I’m just tired of long renders. Mine are go to bed and wait half the next day.

I am just finishing a movie done in HDV and used Magic Bullet for film looks. It is great. As far as 24p, you can get good 24p widescreen from Vegas HOWEVER the secret is (if you are working with 1440 X 1080 files and the project is set there) to change project properties to 720 X 480 and ONLY THEN render out 24p widescreen. That will give amazingly good results. Rendering out from a 1440 X 1080 project will give you garbage.
Take this post to heart and try it. It will save you weeks of messes.

What he is saying is that you don’t make one picture bright. You start with ALL bright – then dim all but one. The cookie cutter lets the brightness show through on just one of them. The 30% layer dims the rest.

One thing to add and I learned it the hard way. Reset your file properties BEFORE rendering out an mpeg for DVD. You will have 1440 X 1080 on the timeline but if you want to do a 24p Widescreen DVD, change the file properties to 720 X 480 before you render. You will get a great render that way – garbage otherwise.

What are you rendering the mpeg to? What size? Check the file properties and set those to match what you are going to output to. Then render the mpg file. I always use the various DVDA streams but check which one you are using. There are a bunch.

Try the CineForm Connect HD trial version. It is a very good program. Unless your computer is more than a dual core 3800 X 2, click the “capture m2t only” button, capture, and then go to “Convert”. You can drop their files on the timeline and edit them like DV. Also, it will scene detect in the convert stage.

What are they asking? I would only guess but I’d say no more than $100, no less than $50. You know you can’t upgrade it?

What are you rendering to get full usage of the cpu? I’m getting about 50% on avi files as are a number of other people. On another forum there was a thread about this and one noted “For instance, when I render a project to HuffYUV, all 4 cores run at 100%, however when render the exact same project to wmv, they sit at aroud 50%.” The question was if Vegas is codec render dependent. My long project was mpeg2 and it ran at 50%. It was complicated.
