I agree. Vegas is a great product but it is operating near the limits in doing HDV at 8 bit. The cameras are moving to higher resolution and more users are going to 10 bit for color correction.

I render 24p NTSC Widescreen (one of the presets in mpg2 renders) all the time without any problem. I’m not planning on going to film anytime soon.

It works fine with 60i (what I usually work in). Try changing your properties, run script, bring it back and then go back to your properties. That may not be an answer but might work as a work-around.

After crashing several doing HDV footage, I got this:

Not exactly a keystroke but my latest favorite move is when I have a noise in a clip that is too loud, make it a region, split it out and then you can grab the volume at the top of the new clip and pull it down to where you want it. Neat part is being able to see it shrink to size it against the rest of the audio. It’s great for knocking down background noises (like slamming door or drawer) of a shout.

However, once you use 7 on a veg, it is 7 because it isn’t backward compatible.

I have a feeling that they must have been overwritten but I can’t figure out how. That is the reason for the post.

I’m saying that if the file was opened in Sound Forge the two channels looked like you placed a mirror down the center of the two tracks. What would be in the left channel was exactly the opposite of the right.

Yes, it can. I do a lot of hdv footage and use Connect HD from Cineform. That program will capture, convert to a good editable avi and scene detect. You can download a trial.
