    Hello Darby,

Thanks for the reply. Actually, there is not a particular set up because there are many many.

The nesting was done for convenience. But I’ve never really understood how collapse transformations/rasterize works with motion blur for nested comps.

Your asking about whether “the nested compositions all have continuously rasterize enabled or only the top level” is intriguing. I have long suspected that it is not as simple as Adobe makes it sound. Can you say a bit more?

As for the time remappings, most are not the default. Maybe 40% default. Often, there is just a parent and child. But, also often, there is a parent, child, and grandchild each with non-default remapping.

    Thanks

You actually gave me a very informative answer. ☺

I’ve done various experiments and I’ve seen some strange behaviors. And I’ve read some inconsitent things in the documentation. But I wanted to pose the innocent question before I started casting accusations.

I actually got thrown off a forum once when I objected to somebody telling me to go do experiments. But that’s another story!

    Maybe somebody else knows??

Here’s an easier couple of questions: can you tell what frame rate this video is just by watching it?
    https://0.s3.envato.com/h264-video-previews/c265afe5-ff89-438e-a95a-f25bbff75c36/17510921.mp4

Could that be a frame rate as low as 25?

And, did they turn on motion blur? I’m not such a good judge of these things.

Thanks Dave for getting back to me.

Unfortunately, the precomping business is well entrenched.

I don’t care about rendering time at all. Can CC Force Motion Blur give me a more correct result? I get OKish results with CC Force Motion Blur. But I’m wondering if there is a correct setting for 25fps.

I just found an iOS library that seems to be custom made for me.

“AVAnimator supports two kinds of video content, lossless and lossy. Lossless mode is ideal for animations that make use of limited color spaces and have lots of pixels that do not change from frame to frame…”

    https://www.modejong.com/AVAnimator/formats.html

Looks like I’ll be able to use Animation in iOS!

    I’m sorry, I don’t see any response. Here’s what I wrote:

“How do you know that 444 is not natively supported in iOS? The reason I ask is that the documentation is poor, old, and/or non-existent. We’re talking AVPlayer here, not MP. Moreover, just this month people having trouble with videos that played in iOS9 not working in iOS10. Bakir recommends using Safari to find out what is supported, but I just use XCode.

“SO, I’m really curious where you got that information. More curious than I am about my problem that I started the thread with! ?”

    Hey Tero,

Thanks. I asked a follow up question above about iOS. Maybe you didn’t see it?

There not lower thirds. Their upper+middle+lower thirds. ? That’s the best way of thinking of them. Solids and text. I don’t even know what an NLE is

OK, yes thanks. Strange that open didn’t work. So…

Good news: drag and drop worked.
Bad news: tried default and extreme settings, but no great improvement. Maybe lost one line of horizontal banding.

I’ll investigate more tomorrow. x264 may not be what I need. It’s designed for overall quality. I’ll have to look for an h.264 that is optimized for lower thirds. My stuff is really just that. Dave put his finger on it.
