I think it’s really tough to pull a key with FCP… Motion’s Primatte keyer is a lot better… Or AE for sure…

The problem is the codec. FCP doesn’t support MPEG files for editing. You need to transcode it to ProRes, then FCP will like it…

If you have problems with the files transcode them to aiff files.

FCP has EDL import, and in order to reconnect to the proper clips, the names of the clips must match the names in the EDL. The EDL will import as a sequence.

I agree… best to not be the first on your block usually, and FCP 7 is rock solid on a clean install…
I just bought a 17″ MBP loaded up. It compresses h.264 faster than my first gen 8 core 3 gig machine… I wonder how they’ll compare running X.. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Mac Pro isn’t slower a bit, but putting in a beefier display card might help, dunno for sure. Yet.
New Mac Pros are coming and all signs are pointing at a big redesign.

So you’ve included some of the DSLR footage then? If it’s on a a track above you could use it when needed even see it at the same time if you scale it down to a corner… Just slice out what you don’t want.
