Multiclip Issue Lots and Lots of Angles…Scrolling is Annoying!
So we’re working on an event we did with between 2 and 5 cameras per session. We used PluralEyes to sync everything up. We used 2-3 stationary cameras and a 7D roaming. With the 7D, we took anywhere between 10 and 40 clips per session. We transcoded and synced everything up fine. I’m starting to edit this and realize that my 30 or so 7D clips appear in separate windows in the viewer. My main issue is that my A and B cam are running and easy to switch, but my 7D shots aren’t just in box 3. They’re in 3, all the way to 30 or so. This means I have to scroll down during a live edit to be able to see those shots. Since this is already very taxing to my machine, I don’t want to have to scroll. THis is annoying. Now, all 7D shots are in one track on original synced timeline. I know you can rearrange clips within the browser, but is there a way to get them on one box in the viewer during a live multiclip edit. Some of sessions are A,B,C cams with up to 40 clips on cam D. This is going to go very slow if I have to scroll down. Does that make sense and does anyone know a workaround?

They all have to be part of a single file. If they’re sync’d on their own track, you could export that track as a self contained movie and use it for the DSLR footage. Where they paused the camera, you’ll have black there.

Thanks for your reply. We thought of that but due to time and storage, we really don’t want to transcode 9 2 hour files @75 Mb/sec. I just finished 1st edit, and it stunk, but I wonder if the time spent transcoding, although making things easier, would actually end up taking longer in the end. Just didn’t know if there was a setting or work around.

So you’ve included some of the DSLR footage then? If it’s on a a track above you could use it when needed even see it at the same time if you scale it down to a corner… Just slice out what you don’t want.
