Try exporting a self contained QT movie using current settings, then compress that file.

What are you’re sequence’s settings and what are the clip’s source properties? HDV? or?

You need to transcode the 7D footage to ProRes before you edit with it, then edit these ProRes clips into a sequence whose settings match those of the ProRes clips…

????? I ran FCP 3 on a G4 and on a G5. There was an OS X upgrade you had to have to run it in X. In fact FCP 3.0.2 on OS 9 was wonderfully stable. I wrote my book on the G5 starting with FCP 3… finished in FCP 4 on the same machine. The only intel only versions appeared with FCP 6… and Studio 2.

Well if history repeats itself, they will release it before the end of their fiscal year. Which is June 21 I think? Might even do a pre release buy so they can cash a pile of cash just before the end of the bookkeeping year. They’ve done this several times with FCP after NAB preview.

When you rendered in Color, you need to add handles to the clips so you can add transitions… there has to be unused media just as there has to be in FCP. Color only renders the material sent, not the whole clip the shots came from. Is this what is happening? Had you added the dissolves before you sent to color, Color will add the necessary media needed, but will not show you the dissolves. They will return when you send back to FCP. No need for a new project file either.

Agreed for sure…

Also add DSLR footage doesn’t work well either… same reason: Color Space is weak. It’ much like HDV.

Let me get this right… when you place a browser clip named X into a new sequence, it’s renamed Z or something? Never heard of this behavior…

Try a new sequence or project file and see if it persists.
