FCP re-naming my clips?
Don’t know if anyone else has come across this problem – it’s a new one to me!
I’m trying to prepare some clips to send to another company so they can add AE scrawl to them etc, but while prepping the clips together on the timeline, FCP is automatically renaming my clips to a seeming random prefix. I HAVE NOT renamed the either the original clips or their name in FCP.
It’s not changing the clip, just its name. It doesn’t seem to be having an adverse effect but i’d rather not find that I have a ton of problems further down the line
Any light anyone can shed would be helpful!

Let me get this right… when you place a browser clip named X into a new sequence, it’s renamed Z or something? Never heard of this behavior…
Try a new sequence or project file and see if it persists.

When I start a new sequence it’s fine for a day or so and now its just started doing it again. I’m adding clips to multiple tracks and when I move them around it renames the sequence to the clip I just moved.
(Add clips X and Y to sequence Z – I move clip Y along the timeline and suddenly the sequence is named Sequence Y. Same if I then move clip X, it then renames itself to Sequence X and so on)I’m out of ideas. Like I say, it doesn’t seem to be affecting the project in any other way, except for this constant renaming!

I’m experiencing the same problem!
I just did an upate with no luck.I’m working with XDCAM ex Footage.
any help?
