Tough time to make those decisions I’d say. FCP 7 would present a learning curve and FCP X yet another one… FCP 7 is 32 bits… FCP X isn’t. But it’s a new NLE. Wait a coupla six weeks and we’ll all have a clearer picture. Maybe. LOL… Next Gen Mac Pro’s can’t be far off either, and they’re likely to knock the socks off the current towers.

Might try smaller versions of ProRes instead of HQ. Which version of ProRes to use is dependent on what the material is (fast moving images?) and what you intend to composite with as well as what your delivery format needs to be.

Try reseating the graphics card. Might help this. On the AJA systems, be sure that mirroring on the desktop is turned on, and that you’re running the latest drivers for the OS you’re running.

You have to name them yourself. It’s called logging! You’ll love FCP X… logging shortcuts all over the place.

Render files can only be saved in sequences. so you might save a small sequence instead?

I’d guess it’s pretty likely… after all FCP 7 can export a batch list containing just the active columns.seems to me then, you could change those headings, or match them in a database project and have them automatically fill the fields there (each clip being a record). But then, I’ve been wrong about some prognostications.
