AFAIK, the behavior you’re seeing is normal… just as long as the frame rate is reported right, which, in your case it seems to be, you don’t have a problem.

Use option +m to navigate to previous markers and shift +m to go forwards to the next so you know you’re really on them.

Buy the fastest Mac your money can buy if you’re running media software always. Don’t be afraid to look at Apple’s refurbs. Great deals, and perfect machines fully warrantied.

Apple troops will be all over NAB. Just no booth.
Can’t say never again, but it’s been about 4 years since Apple appeared in a booth in any tradeshow anywhere, so it’s likely that will continue. They don’t have to be at Macworld nor at NAB because their products are displayed all over the show as it is.
Why spend the money to do NAB if you’re already there anyway, and you make meetings with folks you need to talk to, and the rest, well, they can eye your stuff everywhere on the show floor…

Seems to me the best way to preserve the quality of your project is NOT to turn it into a blu-ray… There’s not a blu-ray player in the world that won’t play a standard def DVD… and I’ll wager the up conversion done in the festivals hardware will blow away anything you can create in software.
That said, I’d sure be talking to the festival people about this and see if they won’t accept an SD DVD. I bet they will. It’s just that I’ll bet that 90% of the entries or more were shot HD, so naturally you’d want a Blu-Ray disc for that. But otherwise, it’s better to just project a regular DVD letting the hardware used for playback upconvert it to the image size needed for projection.
Reason I’m posting this is because this is exactly what we’ve done in the past when showing SD and HD material on the same screen for the festivals the film school I teach at do, and quite frankly, the SD DVD’s look just fine.

March 14, 2012 at 1:29 pm in reply to: native h.264 from 7D and FCP7 workflow suggestionI think the thing to do is use FCP X, then keeping the project relatively simple, and within the guidelines of the Xto7 app, port it to FCP 7, then on to Color. Render in the Background, so the h.264 you’ve used become ProRes during the process. Seems to me this is the way to go…
