Sure is weird..
I’d not worry about the problem if you’re going to finish it all on the same station without having to actually use the EDL’s. If you export to soundtrack pro for a finish is there a problem? likely not…

I think you’ve run into a bug or at least an unsupported “feature”… I hate to say it, FCP and wav files are hit and miss I think.
Are you having to mix both the stereo and poly files in the same clip always? could you add the stereo stuff later or?

Did you record audio on all of the cameras? If so look at: https://www.singularsoftware.com/pluraleyes.html
Or FCP X would do this in it’s sleep.Jerry

That would be best. The AIC codec will work OK, just not the cleanest compression.

Only way to really tell if your workflow will work for you is to try a few clips all the way through the process. Subclips usually don’t present any problems, but merged clips might have some problems. If all of the audio is aif, I think it will go better in the end.

OH there’s a bunch of better codecs than the AIC. Are they on a Mac? If so compress to ProRes instead. MUCH better result.

I’m not sure I’d run FCP 7 on Lion. It seems to work OK, but I don’t see any real benefit.
That said, there’s nothing special to do if you do upgrade. Just let the download happen from the app store.
There is a way to create a new startup disk if you want. https://www.macworld.com/article/1161069/make_a_bootable_lion_installer.html

Might try exporting these files to rebuild them. QT Pro 7 could do it.

May 18, 2012 at 6:56 pm in reply to: FCP7 Even HDV sometimes does not play smoothly, is my mac broke?Well one thing you can do to speed this process up next time is to create disk images which reside on a hard drive to install from. You can install the complete studio that way in about 30 minutes. You just mount them all at once.
But keeping a clean system makes a big difference in your happiness, that’s for sure.

If you’ve not done this in a while, you might be really surprised how much snappier the whole computer becomes.
