Bill- How did you feel about Apple’s intro of FCPX at NAB.
‘STAAAAAAAAAY TUUUUUNNNNNNEEEDDDDD!
Apple was trying to launch a new version of a product that totally disregards many the basic needs of their MOST LOYAL CUSTOMERS.
What a DISASTER!

There are a lot of talented people sitting on the street corner asking for spare change.
You might want to add tenacity and perseverance.

John- Sorry, I mean’t to say licensing fees, not royalties. If I remember correctly, Apple was one of the lead companies in the early development stages of HD DVDs.
When Sony won the HD DVD vs. Blueray battle Apple bailed. I don’t think they liked the idea of paying Sony.
I meant to say; Apple likes to COLLECT licensing fees, not PAY them.

John- My opinion is it goes beyond Apple making enough profit. I think Apple’s modus operandi is to COLLECT royalties not PAY them.

June 29, 2011 at 1:02 am in reply to: Is the blindness that Apple showed in the FCPX release a portent of Apple’s future? The real disappointment for me was the NAB roll out of FCPX. How could they possibly push all other Super Meet presenters out and ‘introduce’ a NON-BROADCAST product? Then dodge broadcast specific questions with the response ‘STAY TUNED’ when they KNEW the answer.
That’s not avoiding the question…. that is LYING.
Can you imagine how embarrassing it was for those presenters to go on stage?
To me there is no question Apple has abandoned the broadcast professional market.
It was a fun ride while it lasted.

Andres- Did you try the above workflow with no success? Be more specific on your problem. What deck? What is the issue?

Luciana- Quit out of FCP and go find the project you saved before you shut down yesterday. Launch FCP by double-clicking that project file. You should be good to go. If that project file is somehow corrupted then go to your auto-saved project files and launch the back-up that is closest (time wise) to when you quit yesterday.

Chris- Finish your approved rough cut sequence(s) in each project (without graphics or audio mixing). Start with your original project. Select the faulty clips in the browser>right click>label>choose your color. Every faulty clip in every sequence in that project should now be marked in the chosen color (I tested it in one of my projects).
Do that with each project.
Now you have a final rough cut sequence with marked faulty clips for each project.
Import only the corrected clips that are to be used IN THE FINAL SEQUENCE of a project. Put them in a separate bin. Right click and label those scenes a different color. In the viewer mark the correct in and out of each replacement clip. The length should be an exact match of the clip it is replacing. Right click your first replacement clip and copy. Go to the sequence and right click the clip it is replacing and choose PASTE ATTRIBUTES. And you are on your way.
Obviously, the tough part is the time codes. If you are lucky the erroneous time code on the bad tapes all started with zero. Double click the first bad clip in the sequence. In the viewer it will give you the in and out and the length. Now you’ll need to find the in on the first replacement clip used from that tape. The difference in code FOR THAT TAPE will be the same for every clip from that tape.
Its late and my eyes are starting to cross. Someone may have a better solution but this is where I would start.
