December 3, 2005 at 3:54 pm in reply to: Clips are too dark after digitizing from DV tapeUsing almost the same set up a couple years ago I noticed the same quality difference between inputing to media 100 via Firewire and S-video. I swapped out every peice of equipment to find the cause. I tried a new DSR-30 deck, Media 100 sent me repalcement card, etc. Bottom line is I use s-video cable for imput. For some unkown reason the firewire washes out the blacks and washes detail.

November 23, 2005 at 9:50 pm in reply to: How does changing the Media Settings effect the project?Floh said, “(if you have a deck with remote) you can edit in 60k and redigitize only the used clips via batch redigitize selected.”
I have a sony DSR-30 deck that I usually save to via firewire. I am not sure what you mean by “deck with remote”. What ever you are referring to with “redigitizing only the used clips” I do not know how to that.
Maybe it isn’t possible in my situation. could you expnad on the process. I am going to do this project over, But I have another one that had some inserted clips that were brought in at the lower quality and I need to fix tht one too.
thanks for your help.

I have a Mac so I am using Quicktime Pro and Flip for Mac as a plug in and it works great. QT Pro $29.95 and Flip4Mac $99. A lot cheaper than Sorenson Squeeze or Cleaner.

August 6, 2005 at 3:55 pm in reply to: New to compression, need advice on which to buy, please.I might have used H.264 by mistake. But I thought I used Quicktime movie to quicktime movie. I am out of town for a week so can’t get back to try new set ups. But, from what I have read I need to get more than quicktime pro to make clips for both WinMedia and Quicktime. Sorenson Squeeze 4 and Discreet Cleaner 6 have been mentioned. Any knowledge of these two?
thanks,

Exactly what does that mean “clone your system drive”
I have external hardrives that I could save to. I haven’t done this before. Could you explain in a bit more detail? Thanks,

June 1, 2005 at 4:49 am in reply to: Need help Immediately holiday weekend Media100xs to DVDI have two table top DVD recorders.
With the Panasonic DMR-E60 you have to master to a dv tape via firewire, then firewire from the tape to record the R- DVD.
On the Philips DVDR-615, which is a R+, you can master directly with firewire from Media 100 just like you are mastering to a tape deck.I like the Philips because when I have a project over 60 minutes I can put it directly to DVD without making more than one tape to master from. I have used these recorders or their previous equivalents for 3 years and have had no problems.

May 27, 2005 at 5:13 pm in reply to: Importing a MPEG song from iTunes. Do you have to convert it first?A customer brings me a CD that has music on it that they bought on iTunes. They want me to use it in their project… It is their music to use for their own enjoyment any way they see fit. As long as their project is to be used for family and friends and not being used in a public place or being charged admission to view/hear.
