So to create a master audio clip, would I have to render the audio out the import it and then put it into the timeline?

    Thanks for the help Flow.
I am self taught, and unfortunatly I have not delved deep enough into audio.
I do not know what you mean by the built in limiter. If you mean the Audio window, I’m not sure if it has limiting capabilities. I can set the “Nominal Reference (dbFS)” to -9… but I don’t think it will clip anything. I manually adjust the sliders up and down for each track, so the master track hits that reference point… but I have to increase the levels of the Talent vo’s so their audible level is the same.

It seems so cut and dry, but it’s turning into a major issue.

    Thanks for any insight

Our LE machine will not let us use the DV option because we did not pay for that option when we bought it. I think they leave it there just to tease you!

Very cool, Thanks. I have the only Mac in my building, so I’m living in a pc world… From what I have found through researching is that most XP comps can play MP4. Looks like this will be the way I deliver my preview spots. Thanks to everyone. The Cow is the best!

I had tried that in AE. Using the H246 the file size came out at like 12.5mb. I could not get it around 1.5 to 2MB. Exporting it in QT, I was able to get that small file size.

Do I detect a little sarcasm?

I would think that the latest version of QT would support MP4, be it windows or mac. And if that is the case, I probably will NOT send out my spots in a format that REQUIRES someone to upgrade. I am trying to get a universal format that just about everyone can play that is small enough to email. I’m just trying to get the info I need before I start sending my spots out like this and my GM says “hey, I can’t play it”.

    Just doing my homework…

Yes, I have the codec and I was to export a spot in this form. But, when I email the spot to my GM and the owners of my station and they say “It does not play for me” and knowing that they do not know a Codec from a hole in the wall, I would like to preface it by saying: you need to upgrade you quicktime from your current version of x.x to the current version of x.x.

sorry if this is the wrong forum to post a QT question on… although my original question was AE!

That’s perfect. Exactly what I needed to do. Thanks for the help!
Now does anyone know what versions of QT support MP4’s? If I start sending spots off for viewing, will some need to upgrade the QT viewer?

    Thanks,

That Sucks… I was hopeing there was a preference that had AE Alphabetizing my open comps for me. I just wanted the last comp that I was working on to be at the end of the open comps… not buried in 20 other open comps. Oh well… I’ll just have to learn my ABC’s so I can find my comps! Thanks for helping figure out this issue. I’ll quite looking for that pref to turn off now!

That makes sense, Thanks. We already have an HD unit, and are looking to get another as soon as the new version is released that is compatible with the new mac. For now, I’ll just have my editor keep them a second apart, or render the split graphic. We usually dump around 40 10-30 second promos on the time line and add our station bug to them, so rendering would take up too much time. Spliting every graphic would tend to get tedious too, but it will work for other projects on that machine. Thanks for your help.
