Did you install DVD Architect? If not, install it. The mpg encoder is tied to that program I believe.

The chopiness is directly related to how fast your processor is and what fx or pan/crop edits you are doing/applying (and what the file type is of the video). The chopiness will only be there when you preview it. It will not show up on your final output file.

I don’t know if the consumer versions of Vegas have ram preview, but if it does, depending on the amount of ram you have, you can see a realistic preview for a selection on the timeline that is tied to the amount of ram you have- look for RAM preview in the help file for your version of Vegas.

Try installing DVDA 5.0 and see if that remedies your issue. If not, what file format did you encode your background to?

It is pretty much agnostic when it comes to codecs as long as you have the proper codecs installed. Wav will give you better quality but bigger file size than say ac3 or mp3 or some others.

Can you provide anymore details about what file types you are using, if any other transitions work and if it has ever worked in the past for you.

  • What are your project settings set to in platinum? What are they set to in Pro?

What template are you rendering out to using pro8? Are you utilizing any custom settings?

When you convert from AVCHD to mpg, what are your mpg file settings?

The only advantage currently is that it offers more RAM for you to utilize in Vegas. Other than that nothing, plus it is not currently supported by Sony for Vegas.

Now, when the 64 bit version of Vegas is released publicly you will see a vast improvement in render time and utilization of at least 8 render threads.

What template are you rendering out from in Vegas? I use the 1440×1080 60i template and bump up the quality slider. This creates a M2T file and it plays just fine on my PS3. Of course I have to click the triangle button (on the PS3) to tell it to play as it won’t automatically play.

It can, but you may experience lagging preview while working https://www.vasst.com/product.aspx?id=bf3e2d5a-7c2e-4969-a8dd-7cee2cefba30“ TARGET=_blank>AVCHD Upshift from Vasst and NewBlueFX. It will convert the files to the easier to handle M2T format and allow you to have control over bitrate and keyframes.

June 25, 2008 at 1:47 pm in reply to: multiple audio fx on one audio track?

The best option is the split your audio up on different tracks and apply the fx at the track level.

The next option would be to split the audio and right click and apply your fx via the sub menu.
