[Oliver Peters] “FWIW – I thought Apple had added back DNxHR support, “

I think the plan is to eventually add back support. It’s not here yet, though.

I think it will come in the form of a Pro Video format update.

Trash your cache files and let them rebuild.

Sounds like you may want to reload your OS.

If the media is good on other machines, but not on yours in multiple applications, something is awry.

Click the ‘filmstrip’ icon on at the top of the browser and choose “Show Waveforms” from the box that drops down.

Or choose View > Browser > Waveforms from the menu bar.

[Tom Sefton] “In fcpx, when you select the xdr display as program out, it says inside some brackets that are none changeable, 4096×2160@59.94Hz

Huh. Must be some sort of SMPTE limit?

[Tom Sefton] “If the xdr display is 6K resolution isn’t there a way of outputting 6K to the display from fcpx?”

What res does it say in Sys Pref > Displays?

Do you have to drop the refresh rate to get 6k?

You can open that avchd clip in QuickTime and see if there’s audio.

I don’t use Cam Archives, but can you drag the media out of it and see if it works?

To update this, it looks like there’s a fix.

Studio Network Solutions was able to get a fix together until there’s an official fix from Apple in the OS.

As of MacOS Catalina 10.15.3, there is still not a permanent fix from Apple.

  • If it’s glitching in other applications that suggests a few things.

Does it glitch in the same frames repeatedly, or is it random?

Do you have more than one machine to play back on?

Either your computer might be failing (perhaps a GPU) or your media somehow is corrupted.

Of you have another machine, try playing the media back on it and see if you see the glitches. Try and note the frames to see if the glitches repeat on the same frame.
