Does anyone know if fcpx has a limit for the resolution that can be sent to the XDR display? We have an LG 5K display and an XDR display connected to a 16 core Mac Pro, with a pro vega II gpu and a vega VII. The vega VII isn’t directly connected to any monitors as it only had display port or hdmi outputs, but resolve and fcpx can see it.

When I open an 8K project in fcpx and bring 8K footage in, and enable the AV output on fcpx, the resolution that fcpx tries to push to the xdr display is stated as 4096 x 2160 @60Hz. If the xdr display is 6K resolution isn’t there a way of outputting 6K to the display from fcpx?

What res does it say in Sys Pref > Displays?

Do you have to drop the refresh rate to get 6k?

Curious as to what you are sending to the XDR.
Just as a monitor feed or the GUI?

    Checked again today.

In sys prefs/displays, it shows the LG at 5K and the XDR at 6K.

In fcpx, when you select the xdr display as program out, it says inside some brackets that are none changeable, 4096×2160@59.94Hz

My project settings in fcpx are 7680×4320@24p

The display looks absolutely incredible, and the performance with red media and prores 8K files is nothing short of staggering.

Huh. Must be some sort of SMPTE limit?

FYI – Apple’s white paper for the XDR Pro Display.
