I haven’t looked it at it, but I bet that cable you are speaking of is an s-video to Y-C cable (two bncs, not three). It’s what you would need to get s-video in or out of some of aja’s mini converters and the Kona LH.

You should probably consider yourself blessed.
It happens when previewing footage in the viewer. Watch footage, use jkl, proceed to an all-stop until I move my pen away from the tablet.
Since I use a pen, it’s easy for me to move and doesn’t really bother me, others may not be so happy. I don’t know if it’s apple, perhaps it’s wacom. Who knows, but it seems to affect some people in this forum so you should be lucky it’s not you Kevin.

Make sure that your tool bench is closed (i.e. the audio mixer and/or the waveform) and is not hising behind your viewer, browser, canvas, timelines, or bins. This has tripped me up in the past.

Keep their hands away from the mouse, IF they are using a wacom tablet, move the mouse or pen off it when using jkl.

Unfortunately, you have to reinstall compressor. If you’re using compressor 1, sometimes reinstalling the latest update (I think it’s version 1.2.1 or something?) worked for me, If not you have to reinstall from either the fcp or dvd studio pro disks. Make sure you setup a custom install to just reinstall compressor and not FCP.

Let me get this straight, you have connected all media and it’s reconnected in the timline, but the thumbnails still have media offline on them, right? When you play your timeline, the media is there though, right? Delete your caches in preferences.
