is the footage coming in drop frame? Hit Apple-8, and check your capture settings. You should be able to choose Sony 29.97 non drop frame. I don’t think this is it. What’s weird, is that when you are capturing DV, dv reverts to drop frame as most comsumer dv camcorders shoot drop frame.

I don’t think this has much to do with it. I am not too familiar with your deck, but you are using RS-422 for deck control, correct?

Okay…put that clip on the upper most video track all by itself and lock all of the rest of the video and audio tracks and play with speeds all you want.

This is wrong, THe Kona 2 will do SD, the problem is it has only DIGITAL inputs, but it has analog output. The Kona LH has analog & digital ins and outs, and handles SD & HD in both analog and digital ins and outs. The Kona 2 will do hardware upconversion while the kona LH will not. The Kona 2 will do 4:4:4 dual link, while the LH will not.

Copy the clip to the end of the timeline and perform the speed change there and then reedit it into the timeline. You’ll have to make up the time somewhere.

Sounds like it’s FCP5 being finicky. You need to go into your user preferences and change the timecode break option from “make new clip” to “warn after capture”

Click the render settings in the render queue and make sure field dominance is set to lower. That should do it, also make sure your timeline in AE is set to 720×486.

Yeah, it’s weird. In Jordan’s case, didn’t they relsease a dual 2.0 that did not have PCI-X when the dual 2.0 was the bottom of the barrel (1.8s had been phased out, and oddly the 2.5s). I think it’s when the first round of 2.7s came out with 2.3s and 2.0s and then they completely dropped the 1.8s. The dual 2.0s had no PCI-X, at least that is my most educated guess.
