so, here it is, I see small conflicts with kona stuff on old dual 2’s— does anyone know off hand what the difference is between the june ’04 g5’s and the others… as this quick bit of knowledge would be needed to find correct updates not automatically downloaded.

    thanks,

I don’t know what conflicts you are seeing, but my hunch is that they are non PCI-X G5s, although I thought the 1.8s were non PCI-X, not dual 2.0s.

The original Dual 1.8’s had a PCIX slot then a subsequent release removed them. The very first 1.8’s had a PCIx slot.

    Funny eh?

Yeah, it’s weird. In Jordan’s case, didn’t they relsease a dual 2.0 that did not have PCI-X when the dual 2.0 was the bottom of the barrel (1.8s had been phased out, and oddly the 2.5s). I think it’s when the first round of 2.7s came out with 2.3s and 2.0s and then they completely dropped the 1.8s. The dual 2.0s had no PCI-X, at least that is my most educated guess.

Main thing to check is amount of ram slots. If you only have four ram slots, it is not a PCI-x. If it has eight, then it has PCI-x slots.
