Not sure what format your video is, but I’m guessing some sort of AVCHD? If so, FCPX creates new media when it imports and rewraps the media. With audio, it’s attempting to use the media right off of the card as FCPX doesn’t need to convert it. So it’s best to move the media off of the media card and then import it.

Get yourself a single hard drive. It seems like it’s all you want to spend. It won’t work well, but at least you know the bandwidth won’t be wasted!
And yes, writing raw data from sensor is going to be different than playing back raw footage from disk in resolve. It’s a completely different process.
A three drive raid-0 hard disk array would be the least amount of kit I’d recommend with reservations. A five drive raid5 wound be better. And driving a Ferrari to get the groceries is purely sublime. You should try it!

Drive speed will make a difference, but depending on what you are doing and how much processing, drive speed won’t be the bottle neck. If you have a sustained 1000MB/sec, you should be able to do two streams of raw playback without any trouble. You don’t need 6000MB/sec, but if you need to work and transfer files at the same time, 6000MB/sec comes in very handy.

More speed is better. At some point you will hit a decompression/processing limit as well. The NVMe storage is absolutely stunning. It is also very expensive. At the least, you’re going to want a 5 drive raid 5 setup. That will give you the capacity of 4 drives, and the fifth is used for redundancy information in the case of a hard drive failure. I have a, small (palm of your hand) 4TB Thunderbolt 3 ssd and it does 1000MB/sec and handily edits 5k red raw from FCPX and a 16” laptop without a hitch. But it’s a single drive and has no redundancy so I have backup measures in play.

A few things. Your drive where your media is stored may be too slow.
Second is to make a new Project at the appropriate resolution and frame, and then select-all and copy the materials in your current Project and paste in to the new Project.

Copying the files from the media card to storage should be your normal action. Then import the media after your copy to local storage.

There’s a new app called FCPX Manager that will allow you to turn off all your plugins and see if that’s an issue. IF you turn them off and the lines come back consistently, then you can start turning on plugins one by one to see which is the culprit. I haven’t heard of plugins causing an issue like this before, but maybe?
