Ok I have tried to reproduce this with both the bundled version and the HD version but can not reproduce this.
The only way I can see the effect not producing anything is if I use 50 fps footage (which is correct since interlaced frames in PAL is 50fps as well).
What framerate does your progressive footage have?

An alternative method could be to use CC Wide Time on the source footage instead.

We are looking into this. Please contact us at support cycorefx.com

  • CC Force Motionblur also works after applying the Timewarp effect. As long as you pre-compose the footage.
The HD version is soon to be float compatible as well. Cycore FX HD

    Pre-compose
As of CS5 it might not be necessary, otherwise pre-compose to the size that you require for your page turn.

    Like Michael suggested.

A tip, if you want the lines to actually be straight spherical lines, you may want to check out CFX Sphere Utilities which contains MapLine that draws correct lines on spherical maps. There is a demo available at cycorefx.com. The package is designed to work with spherical maps and the special distortions required.

Glad to hear that CC’s got threads 🙂

Seems to be more than just CC Sphere going on there.

Try dropping a biggish sphere map, 8000 x 4000, in a new comp. Apply CC Sphere. Size the sphere to reach the bounds, animate y rotation and do a RAM preview. On our Macs, this maxes out the CPUs. If it doesn’t for you, try it with “MP” disabled.

As Kevin noted, CC Sphere is indeed multithreaded as are most of the CC effects.

    We are very sorry.
This problem affects the 8 core MacPro when using the default hyperthreading.
There is an update for CS4 (9.0.2) but not for CS3 I’m afraid.

Quick solution, install CHUD tools (from Apple) and turn off hyperthreading. (have not heard anyone mention any noticeable performance loss)

Or you could upgrade to CS4 or Cycore Effects HD, either will cost though.

Don’t hesitate to contact our support if you have any questions.

Perhaps you could use Lens Fade instead of Lens Convex.
Your Birth Rate and Longevity setting generates 200 000 particles (in NTSC), quite a lot. Probably many of the particles are stacked on top of each other, causing the aliasing. Lens Fade has softer edges which should make some difference.
