While I do not know a lot about using Encore at this point, I know an awful lot about editing. And I can tell you that changing frame rate from 30 to 24 is NEVER a good idea. Even with the best tools, the artifacts are very bad.
My experience is to always encode at the native frame rate of the material if at all possible. This stresses the compression engine the least, providing the best result.
Just my opinion.

This is where one writes to the Cow Team and could hope for a response, isn’t it? Quite a few days with no response. (Bob Z. not withstanding)

Ok, so I notice that several of the storage forums are missing. And the same missing storage forums no longer seem to have ads. I guess that makes sense. Wonder what it says about the health of those companies or the health of the cow?
Sad to see these resources disappear.

I should update this. After some fiddling I am getting good performance. The issues were not having documentation. Well, I did, but did not know it. It was unpacked during the plugin install and I just did not notice it. Bottom line. Things are working more or less as expected.
One small bug. The presets do not seem to save ALL parameters.

Well, I chatted w AJA suppport. There is a misprint on the AJA support page. AJA 10.3 drivers as well as AJA plugin for Adobe CS6 are compatible with Avid 6.0. Yea!!
That said, I install these today and can not get real time performance in After Effects in a HD 1080 29.97 project.
I could in CS 5.5. Anybody out there getting good performance in After Effects CS6 and Win 7 with a Kona 3 card? If so, what are your settings?
In fact the lack of settings when working in After Effects seems to be the root of the problem here. I can not see a way to optimize.Jef

Was hoping that AJA support would hop in.

DVC ProHD has a significantly higher compression rate than DNx 220. Plus it is anamoprihic. DNx is full raster.
Less money – less quality.

Remember that the KiPro records ProRes (and now DNx). The original poster points out that the BMD device records DNx. As these two codecs are very similar, these devices have parity there.
Personally, I do not understand wanting an AVCHD codec on a device such as this. Almost all devices such as this – KiPro, Atmos, Sound Devices – are trying to solve the problem of good cameras with not so good codecs. If I want AVCHD, I imagine there are lots of pretty good cameras with that codec already. Not much of a market in my mind.
Just an opinion.

Hey Jeff (with 2 f’s 😉 )
The “don’t use Auto Resize Image” suggestion was great.
Thanks again!!
