Thanks Steve,
I ran P2 CMS on the card I had not tried to format. I formatted it through the software and now it is recording again. The other card that I tried formatting through the reader and camera and received the P2 Micon Error will not be recognized by the P2 CMS. So I may be out of luck on that card. I now get an error message from P2 CMS stating “An error occurred while operating I/O control on P2-card.” Not sure if there is a place to send it.
Thanks again for mentioning the software.

Within FCP…. all files appear to be relinked… having issue with re-linking two files “…not being long enough to cover…” checking to see if these are associated with multi cam clips….
Also tried to duplicate single clip (not multi cam) and fcpx crashed…
thanks,

Is there a possibility of a solid-state archival solution, say like the P2 card? I would think eventually pricing has to come down to a reasonable point and capacity high enough to make this an option. If we are using such an indestructible medium for recording, why not make it available for archival purposes as well. Obviously not in the current capacities, or design, but what would/could the possibilities be? Has this ever been thought of or discussed?

Hey guys,
I had the same dilemma, but took my SD lens, Canon J14aX8.5, off the Beta SP, took it with me to where I bought the 500 and had their engineer look at the lens on the camera I was purchasing. It’s a 14 yr old lens and he said it looked better than alot of the “HD” lens’ he’d seen. I currently don’t have the money to spend on a lens and will continue to use this lens until I notice any problems. I don’t usually have clients breathing down my neck however as I shoot mainly documentaries, but if the lens checks out, it shouldn’t matter if it’s “HD” or not. (but that’s my opinion)
I also read all the threads on dvx.user so that helped me make the decision to test the lens. Hope it helps, but test your lens and you’ll have the easy answer.

Thanks for the tips… file was 8 bit and only one layer. I cut the background so I just had the logo with transparent background , saved then imported. I must be missing something in photoshop as I save it to .psd, something for me to figure out later I guess.
I used .png and it worked fine, thanks.

Hey Greg,
What were you using to offload the cards? I used P2 Genie and I’m wondering if that had something to do with it. I tried using P2CMS and had no problem transferring the files. I also had no problems using log and transfer, with the offloaded cards by P2 Genie. I was able to get my QT’s I was just trying to get the MXF’s, transferred to the “archive drive.”
I’m not too familiar with the -36 but I found some reading on it and it has to do with a file “ds_store” not sure if it was Mac or Windows and also not sure if that is the problem you are having.
Not sure if this helped, but I am wondering about the problem, and as I posted awhile ago, I kind of thought no one knew what was going on, or had similar problems.

Also, wondering if this is a Windows issue. I also have no problem transferring files w/ Firestore. All I’m doing is selecting contents folder and lastclip and dragging from GRAID to drives on the array/G5. Also, all files are locked, is this common?

I guess it was a shameful plug on my end. I appreciate all your insight and was hoping you might take a look at some of my work. Sorry if my response came back in a rude way.
