February 15, 2008 at 1:16 am in reply to: Adding cards, hard drives, laptop to camera package day rateThanks for the replies. I have been shooting for twelve yrs and started editing 2 yrs ago. I’m in St. Louis and mainly work for a few clients and have control over the shooting and editing. Some corporate, non-profit and moving into longer format documentaries. I agree with your pricing structure and that is basically where I’m at. Rates here for a freelance shooter range from $300 to $400. In the transition from Beta, I was just checking if prices went up at all because of the extra gear, but with the price of the 200, I guess it’s kind of a wash…until you get up to the 500 or 2000, then the rates could go a little higher, I suppose.
Thanks for the input and if you want to see if I’m experienced and do good work, please check out http://www.saltriverproductions.com.

September 10, 2007 at 8:07 pm in reply to: frame jumps or duplicates when adding name superDo you know the name of the doc, or where to find it.
Also, I gave the quicktime blur a go and it’s working. I’ll look for the doc and give that a try if it’s easier than adding the filter, then upgrade as soon as this is over. Thanks for all the help!

September 10, 2007 at 7:59 pm in reply to: frame jumps or duplicates when adding name superThanks for the reference.
The footage is from the Firestore, and I am still running 5.0.4. I was waiting to finish all projects before the crossgrade, and then with the release of FCP Studio 6, I was again going to wait.
Would upgrading fix the problem? Or make new challenges with the current projects?
Might be safer to try the “workaround for now?”

September 10, 2007 at 7:39 pm in reply to: frame jumps or duplicates when adding name superTried it, no luck. It’s as if the frame before the dissolve “plays” twice, once before the dissolve and then it’s the first frame of the dissolve. Doesn’t matter which way I move the dissolve. And unfortunately, it is happening on most supers. Sometimes at the start of the super and sometimes at the end of the super.

September 10, 2007 at 7:05 pm in reply to: frame jumps or duplicates when adding name superI’m seeing it in the canvas and on my NTSC Sony PVM-14N6U, I’m down converting through Kona LH. If I go frame by frame through the dissolve, the person blinks twice, same frame. If I move the transition/super down the time line,(out of the way) she blinks once, normal. If I go to source/viewer she blinks once.

I’ve been wondering the same thing. I am also looking into a new laptop and wondering if anyone has used a Vista laptop with transferring their P2 data from cards and/or firestore.

Thanks guys,
On the G-Tech, is this what your talking about:
https://www.g-technology.com/Products/G-SATA.cfm
and are you suggesting 500 GB and set that up as Raid 1, so using 250 GB. I think that seems to be what most are doing from what I’m reading.
