    Roger,

Define the start and endpoints with keyframes. Then add a keyframe in the middle and position the frame a little higher or lower. Adjust the keyframe types to your taste, (i.e linear, smooth, etc…)

You may consider this an unnecessary expense: I put my system drive on an SSD. The system response is greatly improved and the temp files Vegas uses are handled really fast.

I also installed up 12 GB of triple channel RAM (the best I could afford.)

My mobo has usb 3.0, but I don’t have any 3.0 devices, for the future.

    Mike,

I finished up the last project (with 18 languages) and started another.

On this project the video is 2:48 in length.
There are 11 tracks of 2157 subtitle events for a total of 23,727
The 1st track took 30 seconds to load in last track to 4:05 to load in.
To apply formatting to all 11 tracks took 21 minutes.

It does not seem to matter if I restart DVDA between tasks.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Mike,

Now that would be something to try… I will restart DVDA after adding a track and before applying formatting.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll let you know if this helps or not.

    Mike,

Well I have a Core i7 920, 12 GB of RAM, twin GTX 260’s and an SSD as a system drive, with 6.5 TB of local storage, running Windows 7. It was built for graphics/video. This is more than enough computer. I have been with Vegas/DVDA since version 6.

I have a 2-1/2 hour presentation with 1800 subtitle events for each language. I am importing 18 languages from unicode .sub files (properly formated for DVDA).

The first file is quick enough, but by the time you get to the 10th or 12th file, it’s like 10 minutes or more each. When they are all loaded and I set my subtitle properties (on an English event) and ‘apply formatting to selected tracks’ (all of them) it can take over an hour.

I am aware that one core is doing most of the work and this is a 32 bit app. Maybe I just expect too much. Or maybe I missed that critical setting that you guys know about.

    Thanks for responding Mike,

    Jeff

Yes I am, System drive & Vegas temp files. I have source files and renders on separate internal (magnetic) drives and long term storage on external drives.

The pros are 240 MB sustained read-write, plus .01 ms seek time. (not bad!) The cons are size. I wish I could have 1 or 2 TB of SSDs.

I keep regular image snapshots of my SSD on external storage, just in case. I have had used the images before, but only to correct a system messed up by Windows Update. Not because the SSD lost anything.

SSD’s work flawlessly in Windows 7, but I understand that with Vista and below extra garbage collection software is needed. (I have only used them with 7.)

    I hope this helps,

I would take a snapshot at the beginning of the footage and one at the end. Then I would stitch them together in photoshop. This will give you some room to pan across the image.

Or, just rename whatever.VOB to whatever.MPG. It really is that simple.

  • I had the same issue. It was caused by automatic updates. I system restored my computer to two weeks before the crashes started and turned off auto updates. This was the third time I was seriously burned by MS updating at will.

Maybe you can salvage your system with this info.

Thanks Mike, I had a few filters stacked up, and was getting a failrly good sound. I’ll add that one to the mix and see what I come up with.
