  • Corey,

The project size is set to 720×480. You picked a DV widescreen setting.

Go to the project properties and set a custom frame size to match your pictures.

I’m not sure I follow you Ed. I have reverted to Video Essentials 1.4, because I have to get work done.

Where in the plugin do you change the GPU setting?

The only limit I see would be hard drive size. At some point those 45 minute videos will fill it up. As long as you have space available, capturing video should not be a problem. You may have bad results if heat becomes a problem. Run a heat monitor from time to time and keep the cooling pathway clean.

    Justin,

Does Sony Vegas freeze or does the whole computer lock up, requiring a reboot? If the whole think locks up, then it may be a heat issue. Your “fairly old and slow computer” could be dirtier than it was a year ago. Making it work so hard can cause it to get too hot.

If so, a good cleaning will help. Otherwise I would need more info, like error logs, etc.

You ought to be using one of the DVD Architect templates under the Main concept mpeg-2 codec for video and the Dobly-AC3 codec for audio.

If your files are too big search for VBR in this forum and adjust your bitrates to make the best possible file for DVD Architect.

    Thanks for responding Ed,

I have only run in CPU mode. My system has 12 real cores (+12 hyper-threaded.) Early tests indicated that GPU mode was a hindrance. I have re-enabled it to re-visit that question.

My NVIDIA driver version is 301.42.

It is an interlacing issue. Try rendering (codec settings) it as progressive first with blend fields then with interpolate fields. See which one works best. You might need to change the project properties too.

Mike K is great at these questions he knows it way better than me, maybe we’ll hear from him.

  • Has she ever installed a codec pack? This could cause both problems.

If so, they can be very hard to clean up.

Use the Sony Gradient map fx. It is self explanatory once you see it.
