Wow. It has been forever since I’ve posted in the forum. But I’m glad to be back… with some questions of course. 🙂

Anyway, does anyone know why my Sony Vegas Pro 9 freezes when I’m importing my DSLR videos? Here’s my workflow: I import all the native files from my SD straight to my PC then when I transcode all of them to DnxHD via MpegStreamclip, I direct them to my External Hardrive since my PC can’t handle those big files.

Now, I’ll admit that I do have a fairly old and slow computer but I’ve never experienced this before.

Here’s the specs of my system:

    System:
    Microsoft Windows XP
    Media Center Edition
    Version 2002
    Service Pack 3

    Vaio Computer
    Intel (R)
    Pentium(R) 4 CPU 3.00 GHz
3.00 GHz, 0.99 GB of Ram

    Thoughts?

    Justin,

Does Sony Vegas freeze or does the whole computer lock up, requiring a reboot? If the whole think locks up, then it may be a heat issue. Your “fairly old and slow computer” could be dirtier than it was a year ago. Making it work so hard can cause it to get too hot.

If so, a good cleaning will help. Otherwise I would need more info, like error logs, etc.

Well it just freezes there and I have to End Process it via the Task Manager each time just so I can close the program. No error logs or anything.

BTW, I’m trying to import about 132 video files.
