Set your project properties to the frame size and rate of the video, in this case 1280 x 720 @ 30 fps. Or you can let Vegas make these settings by using the match media (or whatever it’s called) in the top right of the project properties window.

Render using the Sony AVC template with the same numbers.

If you are using a lot of filters turn off the filtered view using the split screen view (select all) in the preview window. Your filters will still be there when you render and the viewing will be less choppy. Otherwise you need a faster processor to handle the workload.

Unfortunately png with alpha transparency show up as a black background until you tell Vegas about the transparency. You must select the properties for the png and select the type of alpha channel for each.

I don’t know if you can select a group of files in the project tab, but it’s worth a try.

    Alac,

In the properties for this event, click disable re-sample and see if that helps.

As far as the format, try some of the Sony AVC templates.

    Thanks guys,

So little of my content is broadcast over-the-air, as opposed to distribution in a strictly digital manner, I was wondering where the cropping/loss would come from.

Have you tried matching the output aspect on the events?
And render to a 16:9 template.

  • Find a .veg file in an explorer window, right-click on it, select open with, click choose program, choose Vegas 11, click the always checkbox. You may have to restart Vegas.

Is this image a png and is the black part alpha transparent? If so, you must tell Vegas in the image properties that it has an alpha channel. Right click on the image and select properties, you’ll find it.
