Just want to add my 2 cents. I have a friend who works at a drive recovery facility. I asked him what he considers the best mechanisms these days. He said without a doubt, Hitachi Enterprise edition SATA’s are the most solid out there. I did indeed get my FW800 enclosures from OWC, and I’ve been extremely happy with the six I have.

Wow. That looks like just what I need. I’ll definitely check it out.

    Thanks 🙂

The imported audio and video is listed as 05:26:24 and the wav audio at 05:26:25. It is drifting, meaning it starts in sync but goes out by 10 frames by the end.

I brought the imported audio and the wav’s into DigitalPerformer, and performed a time scale to get them to match, essentially shortening the wav’s by 10 frames. So now the imported audio and the wav’s match — but neither match with the picture. They’re still out of sync by about 2-3 frames at the end. There happen to be flash pictures being taken all through the clip, and they go out by that much at the end. So I’m just stumped.

Well, you got it in one.

So this is what I did. I used txmuxer to demux the .mts into an .ac3. Then I used belight/besweet to convert the .ac3 into 6 mono 16-bit .wav’s, thus successfully extracting the actual matching audio of the camera original. Then I brought all that back into FCP. And guess what — it’s out of sync by exactly the same amount.

It isn’t Vegas at all, but Apple’s lame avchd import feature. I don’t know how — yet — but it’s somehow shortening the video/audio on import.

    GRRRRR!

    Hi, John–

I’m not sure I understand how that help. If I do see that it isn’t the same length, wouldn’t it just render it wrongly again after I correct it? I guess, like you, I completely don’t understand what I’m doing wrong. Is there some difference between the project setting and my render job perhaps? Would that affect it?

Can I ask if you know of any program which would simply extract the audio from the .mts?

    Hi, Mike–

    Thanks for the reply.

So what about the orphaned warning. Should I be concerned?

    Hi, Steven–

I found it. For anyone else who wants to know, to create a disc image, click Make DVD–>Burn, and select ISO Image Writer from the Device popup menu.

    Hi, Mike–

Thanks for the advice. I changed the disc properties as you suggested, and also, when creating the project to reflect the 5.1 Surround. The file seems to come in well, but when I see it in the timeline, it’s still stereo. Is this just the display of an .ac3, and it will actually burn in 5.1?

    Hi, Michael–

I used your version and miraculously, this time it all just worked. So thank you again 🙂

I noticed you suggested I use DVDSP to burn this to a DVD. Can you tell me how to do that, so that it will auto-play, no menus?
