Dang. Thanks, Shane. I am seeing it for download on a sketchy website here: https://megaupl0ad.net/archive/canon%20eos%20log%20and%20transfer%20plugin But that’s located in Turkey and doesn’t have a great web reputation, so not going to try it. I guess I installed that plugin on my old machine sometime back which is why it works.

I can’t even get mpeg streamclip to see the XMF files. They are grayed out when I try to open or import them into a batch.

Any other ideas of how I can transfer this footage from MXF to prores on my new machine?

I even opened the shots in Adobe Media Encoder CS6, but it crashes and gives me a memory error message (though I have 32 gigs of ram).

Great, thanks, Jerry. Will give it a try. Still using FCP 6…

February 8, 2010 at 4:17 pm in reply to: can you change the effect in MULTICAM edit mode?

I know this is a very old string…but trying to do the same thing, apply dissolves to an entire multiclip timeline.

So once I’ve set my default transition to the dissolve I want, I then select the entire timeline — and then drag what selection onto the canvass?

Am not understanding how to do this. I have a timeline with straight cuts in FCP that I want to change to all dissolves.

    Thanks.

Problem seemed to have solved itself, shortly after. Can’t recall what all I did in trying to scope this out, but it’s working fine now. Sorry I can’t be of help here.

Just tested some regular ntsc DV footage — no problem, captures audio perfectly.

So this seems to be a problem limited to HDV. Hm…

    Hi Ryan:

    Capturing through firewire, as always.

Cameras used both hdv: canon XHA1 and Vixia HV30.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks guys. My wife suggested the easiest solution — I shot various performances of this show, and am just stealing another angle from another show and cut it in, works fine. Appreciate the info.

Thanks for the tip. Turns out to be a bad firewire out on the deck. But good to learn this tip.
