Trying to search, it’s been asked a hundred times I imagine.

I have a bunch of CalDigit VR2’s 4TB, looking to get another, an 8TB, using USB 3.0.

But instead, what about getting 20TB in an external drive system? Yeah, no Thunderbolt available on mac pro, so it’s eSata or usb 3 or FW 800.

What to do? Thanks for any suggestions.

For editing or for back-up? If for rendering, editing, etc. of multiple streams of compressed or uncompressed HD then I’d go with e-sata raid 3 or 5 with SSD drives. I like G-Tech, Cal-Digit and Sonnet. Buffalo has a drive that is both USB 3 and Thunderbolt. I have bought enclosures and built my own as well — which is always cheaper. Be glad you have e-sata. It is more universal and cheaper than Thunderbolt. If you use raided SSDs it will fly.
