  • can you change the effect in MULTICAM edit mode?

we have been using the multicam edit mode in the new fcp. first of all love it! it has saved us weeks off our editing on long form training material that has sometimes 90+ lengths. 4 sources all the same timecode! love the feature. does anyone know if you can change the default effect from a cut to let’s say a 15 frame dissolve? that would save us even more time. client likes to have a dissolve when cutting in the graphic source. we check the manuals but didn’t come across anything. thanks, sjs

  • Once you’ve made all of your cuts, you can CHANGE all of the transitions into whatever you’d like with just a few commands.

This is a standard feature in FCP called “Overwrite with Transition”.

To add Multiple Transitions (Dissolves, in this case.)

Set your default transition and length.
(You can change the default by control clicking on it in the fx tab.)

Range Select (“Select All” of) your clips on the timeline.
Drag this selection into the canvas

I know this is a very old string…but trying to do the same thing, apply dissolves to an entire multiclip timeline.

So once I’ve set my default transition to the dissolve I want, I then select the entire timeline — and then drag what selection onto the canvass?

Am not understanding how to do this. I have a timeline with straight cuts in FCP that I want to change to all dissolves.

    Thanks.
